UDMF’s attempt to obstruct Birgunj entry point foiled

BIRGUNJ, Feb 6: Police in large number have been deployed at the Birgunj-Raxaul border point after the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) decided to obstruct the border entry point.

A group of protesters, who reached there to impose blockade at around 2 pm, tried to halt transportation.

But, their attempt was foiled by police personnel and Raxaul locals.  

A brief scuffle also occurred between locals and UDMF cadres.

“The situation has now normalized,” said Chief District Officer Keshvraj Ghimire.   

Earlier today, local front leaders had decided to obstruct the checkpoint unless formal decision is made.
