UDMF cadres stress meaningful talks

RAJBIRAJ, Oct 28: Staging a torch rally in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari, on Wednesday, cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) urged their leaders to hold meaningful talks with the government.

"We organized a torch rally on the eve of the planned talks between the UDMF and the government to urge our leaders to make the talks meaningful," said Ramprit Yadav, Saptari district coordinator of UDMF."We also warned our leaders not to engage themselves in talks for talks sake as in the past," said Binod Yadav, a youth leader of the Sadbhawana Party.

Meanwhile, hills origing people residing in Saptari staged a demonstration Wednesday expressing solidarity with the demands of the Madhes movement. The participants in the rally demanded that the government immediately fulfil their genuine demands and end the current crisis.

"We stand by the Madhes movement aimed at ensuring the rights and dignity of the Madhesis," said Arun Pradhan, president of Saptari Chamber of Commerce and Industries, who led the demonstration.

Civil society leader Sampat Koirala, senior journalist Shivhari Bhattarai and CPN-UML leader Jagadish Aryal were also among the participants.
