UCPN (Maoist) will be ace party in two years: Dahal

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday expressed confidence that he would make his party number one in next two years despite suffering multiple splits.

Addressing a training program held for the party cadres by the party central committee here Saturday, Chairman Dahal said the party would leave behind the problems and splits to work in the interest of Nepali people.


He said the party would make utmost efforts in unifying the Maoist struggle while urging Dr Baburam Bhattarai, who recently resigned from the general membership of the party, to return and take up responsibility.

The Chairman further said it was not right to rant against leader Bhattarai for leaving the party and added that the party's CC had already appealed to him to return.

Formation of a national unity government was essential to implement the new constitution, according to him. Agreement among the three parties was important to implement the new constitution.

He further claimed that UCPN (Maoist) had taken important decision during the country's crisis and that it took similar decision in course of the constitution making.

Stating that with the promulgation of new constitution in Nepal, the expectation of public to draft the national charter through the Constituent Assembly was fulfilled, he directed the cadres to take the positive aspects of the new constitution to the public as it is the national charter drafted by the constituent assembly.

On a different note, the leader argued that Nepal-India shared cordial relations for a long time, but the latest border blockade as the 'wrong decision' of India. "Nepali people and Nepali political parties are free to take decision themselves. None should have qualm about it," commented Dahal.

Instructing the cadres to firmly stand on the side of nationality at such time, he affirmed that nothing and none could do untoward activities against the welfare and will of Nepal.

Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) Secretary, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, dubbed Baburam Bhattrai's decision to quit the party as the 'wrong' move.

Local leaders and cadres from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchow, Kavrepalanchowk, Dolakha, Ramechhap and Sindhuli districts attended the training. RSS
