Two PLA men held while smuggling timbers

CHITWAN, March 3: Locals held two Maoist combatants from the Chitwan-based PLA Third Division Friday night in Jutpani-1 Kholesimal in possession of smuggled timber.



Battalion commander Bhim Bahadur KC and company commander Laxman Dhami of the Dinesh Ramji Memorial Brigade were held while they were illegally ferrying three logs of sal from Udaupur Community Forest in eastern Chitwan. [break]



The PLA commanders had used UNMIN-verified vehicle with a temporary license plate (Ba 001 A 55) to smuggle of some 40 cubic feet of sal worth around Rs 100,000.



The two and the vehicle have been handed over to the district forests office, according to chairman of consumers´ group of the community forest Keshav Lama.
