Two killed in shootout

RUKUM, June 1: Two persons were killed and one was injured as a group of over 10 unidentified looters opened fire Wednesday night in Mahat village of Rukum.



Those killed have been identified as Narayan Budha, 43, and Purna Bahadur BK, 64, of the village. While BK, who received a bullet in his head, died on the spot, Budha breathed his last while being rushed to a local hospital.



The looters, who came to Domai bazaar of Mahat village to rob local entrepreneurs, opened fire at villagers when they tried to retaliate. The looters attacked villagers with spears and knives. According to Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Marasini, police are searching for the looters.
