Two arrested for smuggling illegal drug

KATHMANDU, March 12: The police have nabbed two people in possession of a stash of 7,000 ampoules of medicinal drugs from Balaju Industrial Estate, Balaju.



A special squad of Narcotics Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU), Baneshwar, had arrested Min Kumar Shrestha, 35, and Khadga Bahadur Poudel, 38, on March 3. [break]



"We arrested the duo with 3,500 ampoules each of buprenorphine and diazepam which they had hidden in the bolero vehicle BA 1 Cha 5477 they were driving," informed police. The police have impounded the vehicle and seized the drugs worth Rs 1.4 million in black market.



Shrestha hails from Jamdaha VDC in Siraha and Poudel is from Makawanpur. The preliminary investigation of police has revealed that the duo had been into drug trading since a long time.



“They used to buy illegal drugs from Raxoul and sell them to customers through drug dealers in Kathmandu,” reads a press statement issued by NDCLEU on Monday.
