Turkish climber on Everest mission

KATHMANDU, April 4: Ali Nasuh Mahruk, the first Turk and the first from the Muslim community to climb Mt Everest, has embarked on yet another mission on Everest.



His 14-member expedition, accompanied by Yilmez Seyqul, left for Lukla on Friday.



Akhil Chapagain, president of Nepal Turkey Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said only 12 members of the team will reach the Everest Base Camp.



Mahruk, who climbed Mt Everest in 1995, has been awarded the title of Snow Leopard by Russian Mountaineering Federation.
