Police said 50-year-old Sumitra Devi of Pashupati Nagar - 2 had been in the middle of domestic dispute with her daughter-in-law when her son Ram Babu Thakur intervened.[break]
As the quarrel became heated, Ram Babu reportedly taking side of his wife, shot his mother in the chest, killing her instantly.
The gunshot woke up the neighbors which prompted both Ram Babu and his wife to flee the scene of the incident. After preliminary investigations, police said they believed Ram Babu was intoxicated and he might have been instigated by his wife. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
District Police chief Suraj KC said they had intensified the search for the two.
Police also sized a homemade pistol and three rounds of bullet from Ram Babu´s house. Further investigations are ongoing.
