Then Kathmanduites hardly get any chance of attending live musical extravaganzas, Surya Nepal Private Limited has kept up with hosting live concerts time and often. With that the second series of “Surya 24 Carat Tribute to Rock – Rock the Rains” came to conclusion recently. In its first edition, four splendid bands – Abhaya and The Steam Injuns, Nekhvam, The Sound Mine, and Jigme and The Strings played tribute to the international legendaries of rock music like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd. During this year’s Tribute to Rock – Rock the Rains, the same four bands played western classical rock rather than featuring a specific band or artistes.

Abhaya and the Steam Injuns opened the gig at the Cafferina in The Sherpa Mall, The Sound Mine played at The Factory, Nekhvam performed at Bhumi Restaurant, and Jigme and The Strings enthralled the people at 19O5 in Kanti Path.
“Last December, we were looking for a theme to promote our new brand Surya 24 Carat. We could come up with no better option than to host concerts to mark tribute to rock music. We never had such shows that gave tribute to legends. Yes, it was a risk in the beginning. But after the overwhelming responses we’ve received so far, we look forward to giving this a continuation,” Ishwar Gautam, brand manager of Surya Nepal shared. “Hats off to the four bands. After all, it’s not that easy to attempt legends like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.”
As for us, the audience, the listeners, we are just too lucky that we have been able to observe live music, still.
