The 69-year-old held his daughter-in-law Basundhara´s hand, Basundhara that of her husband Mohan, and Mohan held their seven-year-old daughter Malvika´s.

The flashflood caught Gopal and Basundhara and they were separated from Mohan and his daughter. Mohan tried to save his wife and father at first but ran uphill with daughter after realizing that even their lives were in danger. His wife and father were swept away.

Locals found the body of Gopal buried in mud at the river bank some moments later while Basundhara is still missing. Mohan and Malvika are recuperating at Manipal Medical College Hospital after being rescued by locals and are out of danger.

Gopal of Bhujungkhola had gone to his son´s hotel just 20 minutes walk away to help his son and daughter-in-law cope with the overflow of customers on Saturday due to visit of domestic and foreign tourists from Pokhara for revelry. The hotel and the surrounding crop field was completely swept away by the flood.
