Tourists visiting Nepal via air route increase

KATHMANDU, Sept. 5: Number of foreign tourists entering into Nepal through air route has increased by 2.5 per cent as compared to last year and reached 44,571 till August 2012.



Quoting the Immigration Department at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said the number of tourists entering into Nepal continuously increased in these eight months of 2012.[break]



Arrival of tourists has increased by 4.2 per cent from South Asia, 7.2 per cent from Bangladesh, 17 per cent from Pakistan and 15 per cent from Sri Lanka during the eight months period.



Similarly, arrival of Indian tourists has decreased by 1.2 per cent during the period.The statistics shows that number of tourists visiting Nepal from European countries has increased by approximately 6.1 per cent during the period.

A total of 377,043 tourists entered into Nepal during the eight month period of 2012 which is 16.3 per cent more as compared to last year.
