The arrivals from South Asian region, except for Sri Lanka, have gained an overall positive growth of 35.3 percent. Arrival of Indian tourists went up by 35.5 percent, Bangladeshis by 53.8 percent, and Pakistanis 3.2 percent. [break]
According to NTB, tourist arrival from the South Asia saw a robust growth of 21 percent in the first three months of 2010.
Arrivals from China saw a remarkable growth of 114 percent in March. Arrivals from other Asian countries also maintained an upward trend with Japan witnessing 6.8 percent, Malaysia 38.4 percent and South Korea 68.1 percent. However, arrivals from Thailand and Singapore witnessed a fall of 45.9 percent and 5.8 percent, respectively.
Overall, arrivals from the Asian countries grew by 32.9 percent. Arrivals from the Asian countries for the first three months of 2010 saw 38.6 percent rise as compared with the corresponding period last year.
Arrivals from European countries grew by 42 percent growth with arrivals from major countries like the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands going up by 44.9, 5.4, 40.8, 44 and 128.2 percent, respectively.
Arrivals from all European countries in the first three months of 2010 grew by 34.1 percent.
Likewise, tourist arrivals went up by 6.5 percent from the US, 27.2 percent from Canada, 27.4 percent from Australia and 69 percent from New Zealand.
