KATHMANDU, Nov 24: A meeting of top leaders of the three major political parties—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN UML—have decided to resolve the current political crisis through a package deal.

The meeting held at Peace Ministry on Saturday evening also decided to continue talks to arrive at consensus on all contentious issues including new prime minister candidate.[break]

“The meeting discussed on all contemporary political issues to forge consensus on differences among the parties,” UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said after the meeting.

“There is an agreement among us to hold a fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) election in mid-April/May. There is no alternative to forge consensus among the parties,” Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel said.

This is the first time the top leaders have made after the president urged the parties to select a new prime minister through consensus within a week.
