Rangalal Agrawal, 55, a resident of Malangawa-8, was found dead in a crop field in front of an under-construction building of Sarlahi CCI on Wednesday night. His motorcycle was also found there. His dead body was partially submerged in water.
As Agrawal was found dead just on the eve of the eighth general meeting of the Sarlahi FNCCI, which was scheduled to elect the new leadership on Thursday, his family members have claimed he was murdered. Agrawal had also been contesting the election. With his death, the Sarlahi CCI´s general meeting has been put on hold indefinitely. [break]
Agrawal was in a meeting with his closest friends to chalk out a strategy of his panel for Thursday´s election. He left for home at around 8 pm Wednesday. As he did not reach home till late night, his family members, relatives and friends started searching for him. He was later found dead.
“It´s a murder,” said Satya Narayan Agrawal, general secretary of the Sarlahi CCI. “The murderers tried to make it look like an accident. But, circumstantial evidences show it was a planned murder.” He says there was no reason for Agrawal to go to the under-construction building at late night after the meeting. “Those who invited him there must have killed him,” he said.
The District Police Office of Sarlahi has formed a committee led by SP Santosh Singh Bhattarai to investigate into Agrawal´s death. Bhattarai says they have found blood stains in the under-construction building.
All shops, factories, educational institutes and also some government offices were shut down in Malangawa following Agrawal´s death on Thursday. Mahendra Roy, chairman of the TMDP Nepal, who reached Malangawa on Thursday, called for a free and fair investigation into Agrawal´s death.
