Timber smugglers held

BUTWAL, July 26: An army patrol team has arrested seven timber smugglers while cutting trees in the forest and handed them over to the forest office.



The team led by Captain Arjun Poudel that was patrolling the area surrounding the under-construction training center in Saljhandi, Rupandehi, arrested them with nine cubic feet of timber.



The armymen also found seven axes, a saw and other materials from Mani Ram Chaudhary, Ram Bahadur Chaudhary, Bindu Chaudhary, Lal Bahadur Sunar, Ram Krishna Chaudhary, Bijaya Chaudhary and Jen Tharu of Dudhraksha, Rupandehi.



Poudel said the patrol team was tipped off about the cutting of trees in the forest around seven kilometers north of Bhawani Baksh Battalion´s base camp in Saljhandi.
