Tilganga conducts 1,100 surgeries

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology conducted around 1,100 free eye surgeries during a health camp in Bardiya.



Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, Tilganga said the five-day camp that began from Jan 19 conducted 1,098 surgeries. This is the highest number of surgeries in a free health camp in Nepal, the statement claimed.



Dr Govinda Poudel of Tilganga conducted up to 175 surgeries every day during the free health camp. Another 1,174 persons had their eyes treated at the health camp held at Devkota Higher Secondary School, Gulariya.



The health camp was organized in association with Shivaganga Community Eye Treatment Center, Bardiya, Nepal Red Cross Society, Bardiya, CEHP Nepalgunj and The Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia.
