According to the park officials, such a large number of tourists is rare in the park even during big festivals like Dashain and Tihar."We managed to collect Rs 285,000 on the New Year alone," informed park in-charge Arjun Kunwar, adding, "The park has managed to collect about Rs 2.5 million in the last eight months."
The entry fee for the park is Rs 200 for a group of 25 people and Rs 300 for a group of over 25 people.
According to Kunwar, most of the tourists visiting the park are from Bardiya, Surkhet, Dang, Kanchanpur, and Banke districts. Likewise, tourists also come from eastern and central parts of the country including Jhapa, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Rupandehi, Palpa and Nawalparasi.
"Most of the tourists are from the districts of Far-western Region. We also get visitors from other districts outside this region as well," said Kunwar.
Tourists mostly visit the park for picnic and to observe the park's beauty. Various types of flowers, including a variety of roses, bloom here adding to the beauty of the park. Almost 40 species of roses of different colors grow in the park, which is located in the bank of Karnali River and spreads across 84 Bighas of land.
Krishna Thapa, a visitor from Narayanpur in Dang district, says that he found the park to be more beautiful than what he had heard of. "This is the first time I am here. I had heard about its beauty from friends. Coming here and seeing the beauty first hand is far more pleasant experience," he said.
