The case centers on the murder of 50-year-old Sete Damai of Toli VDC after his son Santa Bahadur Damai married Raj Kumari Shahi, a daughter of Thakuri-Chhetria girl from "higher caste". He was attacked by a group on August 30, 2011 and died in hospital a day later.[break]
Single bench of judge Ramkrishna Bhatta on Tuesday convicted Bindakala Shahi, Jiwan Shahi and Krishna Bahadur Kharti of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Similarly, minors Subash KC and Dilli Prasad Khatri were handed 10 years of jail term for their involvement in the case. The punishment was taken considering section 13 (3) of the murder chapter of the Muluki Ain and Children´s Act 2048.
Tul Bahadur Chand, Madan Shahi and Ganesh Singh were given 5 years of imprisonment for playing the role of catalyst in the murder case. Yet another minor Prem Bahadur Shahi also faces 30 months of jail term on the same charge.
