Three press bodies back FNJ agitation

KATHMANDU, June 23: Nepal Press Union, Press Chautari and Revolutionary Journalist Association have expressed solidarity with the agitation launched by the Federation of Nepali Journalists against the attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal.



At an interaction organized by the FNJ on Thursday, the three press bodies affiliated to the three major parties stressed that those responsible involved in attacking journalists shouldn’t be spared at any cost.[break]



FNJ President Shiva Gaule said the government should take action against Morang vice chair of UML-affiliated Youth Federation Nepal Parashuram Basnet.



Chairman of Nepal Press Union Kiran Pokharel said Parashuram and the other involved in the incident should be brought in legal ambit.



Chairman of Press Chautari Nepal Gagan Bista expressed his union’s support for the ongoing agitation and said that the guilty should be let off the hook.



Hiramani Dukhi of Revolutionary Journalist Association said the agitation should be made more effective.
