Three kiled, 8 injured in jeep accident

SINDHULI, Sept 16: Three people were killed and eight other injured after a jeep met with an accident at the Kusheshwor Dumja-1 section of BP Highway in Sindhuli on Monday.



Deputy Superintendent of Police Narendra Upreti informed that Nara Bahadur Sarki, 52 and his daughter Rita Sarki, 18, of Chyaman VDC-7 in Okhaldhunga district as well as Hari Bahadur Thapa, 30, of Topgachhi in Jhapa died on the spot after Tata sumo jeep (Ja 1 Ja 189) bound for Kathmandu from Ghurmi in Uydayapur crashed at around 2.30 AM. The condition of the four of the injured - driver Chhatra Bahadur Shrestha,28, of Satang-3 in Sindhupalchok, Binod Karki, 32, of Kundevi-7 in Okhaldhunga, Dipak Shrestha of Chyaman-6 in Okhaldhunga, and Ramchandra Karki of Chiuridanda-8 in Khotang district-is critical. They have been rushed to Kathmandu for treatment.



Other injured - Yam Bahadur Sunuwar and Nanda Kumari Bhandari of Khimtifalate-8 in Okhaldhunga, Tek Bahadur Shrestha of Chyaman-6 and Rabin Karki of Chiuridanda-8-are undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital, informed Sindhuli police.



The police said that investigation into the exact cause of the accident is underway though a preliminary probe suggests that over speed led to the accident.
