Three firms fined for violating business code

KATHMANDU, April 8: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has fined three firms for violating the business code.



During market monitoring on Tuesday, the authorities discovered the firms violating business codes and consumers' rights.

Shankar Grocery and MDR Confectionery at Kuleshwor were fined Rs 20,000 each. 


Gupta Gudpak, a confectionery shop at Gongabu, was fined Rs 5,000. These firms were punished as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.


A total of 39 stores were monitored by the authority. Among those, 36 were directed for correction in business practice, thereby adhering to consumers' rights. The monitoring team included representatives from the department, consumer rights defenders and local-level representatives. 


The DoCSCP has been conducting market monitoring regularly.
