The first bomb was spotted in a parking lot at Gokarna VDC-9 at around 11:30 am. A similar explosive was found in a bus at Tilangetar. The third one was found at Chabahil in a bus.
SP Rajendra Shrestha, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, said that the socket bombs may have been planted by underground outfit in an attempt to spread terror.
Meanwhile, the capital panicked throughout the day following rumors about bombs at several busy places like shopping malls and restaurants. “All those rumors turned out to be a hoax,” said Shrestha.
Drug peddler shot at
Police shot at one Rabindra Bahadur Shahi at Swoyambhu on Wednesday. Shahi, 27, a karate coach from Humla, is allegedly a drug peddler.
According to Metropolitan Police Crime Division, police shot at him when the latter tried to flee. He was allegedly in possession of 160 grams of brown sugar. Shahi stabbed a cop during the scuffle.
