Three behind Butwal blast arrested

BUTWAL, April 13: Police on Wednesday made public five people including three who were behind the explosion in a microbus at Milanchowk on March 27.



The blast accused have been identified as 26-year-old Prashant Pandey of Bogadi-3, Rupandehi, 19-year-old Raj Kumar Chauhan of Sakraunpakdi-2, Rupandehi, and 40-year-old Islam Musalman of Maharajgunj district in bordering India. [break]



All three are associated to the Bhagat Singh group, according to Rupandehi police chief Sher Bahadur Basnet.



The three were behind the blast in a microbus (Lu 1 Kha 3666) in front of Milan Theater at Milanchowk on the evening of March 27.



Twenty-eight people were injured during the blast, two among whom died while receiving treatment.



Ten are still undergoing treatment. According to police, Pandey was involved in host of other crimes prior to the blast, including robbery, arson, blast in Madhubani VDC, extortion, and planting of a socket bomb at Bayarghat-6, Rupandehi.



Apart from the blast perpetrators, police also made public two people involved in the murder of one Sapatu Yadav.
