The weather is very bad. There is a thick fog. As per the information we have received, 23 people including three crew members and two children were on board the plane.
It seems that the aircraft might have met an accident somewhere in Myagdi district. We have received news of a fire breaking out on the hill above the Rupse spring. Now we are trying to get more information. Police and army personnel from the nearby areas have been dispatched to the area where the fire has broken out.
The search operation is on in coordination with the Chief District Officer of Myagdi, Regional Administration Office, Pokhara, Nepalese Army and Nepal Police and the officials of Tara Airlines.
Police units from both Myagdi and Mustang have been mobilized. But the dense fog is a hurdle to the search operation. We haven't been able to locate the accident site. The teams mobilized for the search operation on choppers have said that there is poor visibility.
There was a light drizzle in the night. However, there is no report of a snowfall or a lightning strike. (Based on A telephone conversation with Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, Chief District Officer (CDO), Mustang District)
