Temple vandalized as locals scuffle

LALITPUR, Jan 22: The Jwaladevi Temple based in Lele village in Lalitpur district was vandalized on Sunday in course of a scuffle between the residents of two neighbouring villages.



The clash ensued after a dispute between the two sides, on the issue of burning the wooden logs prepared for the purpose of blacktopping the local roadways, took a nasty turn.[break]



An unidentified gang burnt wooden logs worth Rs. 80,000 last Thursday. They were cut off for the purpose of the repairing the roadways.



However, the people of Mahat Village accused the folks of Kaidi Village in the same VDC of being involved in the incident. Tensions gripped the entire area due to the clash between the two sides of the villagers.



Following the clash, police have arrested some youths and they are being interrogated, said the Metropolitan Police Circle Chapagaun.



Meanwhile, a person was stoned to death at Dobato Danda in Ghusel VDC- 7 in the district. The deceased has been identified as local Akkal Bahadur Thing.



The motive behind the killing of Thing is yet to be known, said the police. Six individuals have been detained by the police, following a complaint filed against them at the police administration.



The incident took place on January 20, according to the police.
