NTA Spokesperson Kailash Prasad Neupane told Republica that total royalty would increase after operators start following the instruction. “After the new instruction, telecom operators will have to pay additional four percent for other services,” he added. [break]
Earlier this month, NTA had instructed United Telecom (UTL) to present its incomes from limited mobility and basic telecom service. Later, the authority also instructed Ncell to show details of their income.
“Operators are supposed to submit their income under separate heads within three months,” spokesperson Neupane added.
According to NTA, UTL has been paying only four percent of its total income from both services as royalty. But as per the agreement, the operators are required to pay for both services separately.
Ncell and UTL have been paying four percent of the total income, which is less than the committed royalty. NTA has asked UTL to pay separate royalty for its limited mobility service and Ncell to pay for ILD gateway and data service.
