Organizers said total turnover was affected this year because the event was organized right after the ´Made in Pakistani Expo´, which also targeted women, and also because the event was organized much earlier than the Teej festival.[break]
Milu Thapa, program coordinator of the festival, said the four-day event showcased wide varieties of women products like saris, kurtha salwar, bangles, pote and saubhagya, among others.
Women Creation Center, the organizer of the event, has been putting aside 15 percent of the total profit generated from the event for capacity-building and skilled development of under-privileged women.
The 10th edition of the event, which was organized at the United World Trade Center, also featured a fashion show during the concluding ceremony on Sunday.
Stall operators said transactions went down this year, as women are yet to start shopping for Teej festival, which is still a month away.
“Total sales during the four-day event was less than Rs 8,000. I couldn´t even recover the rental amount that I paid to the organizers,” said Srijana Shrestha, who had a stall of ceramic products at the event.
There were a total of 110 stalls in the event. Products on display during the event were priced in range of Rs 15 to Rs 15,000.
