Teachers agitation ends

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: All educational institutions that were closed for two days owing to teachers´ agitations have been resumed from on Tuesday.



Different teachers´ unions have been protesting putting forth different professional demands. The teachers´ unions have withdrawn their protest programs following the call from the government to postpone their agitations. [break]



On Monday, Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma had invited the teachers for talks to discuss their demands and pledged to fulfil all demands of the teachers.



Different teachers´ unions had been launching phase-wise agitations for three months putting forth 35-point demands.



The demands include implementing previous agreement signed with the government, giving permanent status to temporary teachers, among others.



Chairman of Nepal Teachers´ Union, Dil Bahadur Joshi said they would continue the protest program if the government failed to address teachers´ demands in time.
