KATHMANDU, April 15: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said he deliberately boycotted the tea party hosted by Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal at the prime minister´s residence at Baluwatar on the occasion of Nepali New Year on Thursday.

The senior CPN-UML leader said he didn´t join the party as a symbolic objection against the PM´s decision to induct new ministers without consulting himself and other major leaders within the party.[break]

“I chose not to attend the tea party as the prime minister inducted new ministers without consulting other leaders in the party,” he told reporters.

Also, other key UML leaders from the camp led by Nepal and KP Sharma Oli skipped the tea party that was attended by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Vice President Paramananda Jha and Speaker Subas Nembang, among others.

Nepal also made it clear that the UML is against allowing UCPN (Maoist) to head the home ministry.
