KATHMANDU Nov 2: NHRC has directed the government to take departmental action against the teachers participating in protest programs by depriving students of their classes. The commission has also urged the government to inform the commission about the action taken against such teachers.

Urging the government to create atmosphere for studies and reopen the schools in the protest-hit districts, the commission has stated that teachers, who should be respecting and actively supporting the campaign of making school a peace zone, have been found actively involved in protests.

"The closure of schools for a long period in the protest-hit areas could create a future situation, where the students from protest-hit districts could lag behind in every competition with students from districts where schooling has been more regular," stated the NHRC.
