Swiss aid for soil management program

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The Swiss government has agreed to provide Swiss franc 5.63 million to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of the phase IV of the Sustainable Soil Management Program.



An agreement to this effect was signed between Secretary of Ministry of Finance Rameshwor Khanal and Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Gass at a function organized at the Ministry of Finance on Monday.



Issuing a press release, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation said today that within the four years of the project period (2011-2014) it is expected to improve food security and income of at least 50,000 poor and disadvantage household in the mid hills. "This is to be achieved through the adoption of improved sustainable soil management practices and new production and market opportunity by the farmers," the release read.
