Swimmers selected for South Asian Games

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Nepal Swimming Association selected 10 swimmers to compete in the 11th South Asian Games scheduled to be held from January 29 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [break]



The swimmers were selected based on their performance in a competition held at the Dashrath Stadium on October 15.



The five male swimmers selected are Sailesh Rana, Banin Shensa Shrestha (breast-stroke), Prasiddha Jung Shah (freestyle), Chandra Singh Mahato (butterfly) and Pushpa Raj Shahi (backstroke). Khim Bahadur KC, Om Bahadur Kumal and Kisim Lal Tharu ware named alternatives.



Likewise, the female swimmers selected are Karishma Karki (butterfly), Shaila Rana, Shreya Dhital (free-style), Bibidha Rimal (breaststroke) and Oshin Bharati (backstroke). Nayana Shakya, Sudha Shrestha and Jitjwali Maharjan are named as alternative swimmers.



According to the association, the swimmers whose timings were closest to the timing of bronze medalists during the 10th SAG were selected for the 11th SAG.
