Following the SAARC foreign-ministerial meeting, Swaraj and Satraj held their own meeting, which comes at a time when the two countries have been witnessing a strain in relations. But they have not made any official statement regarding the meeting.Their nearly 20-minute meeting concentrated on the Pathankot incident three months ago. In the incident, 15 persons including seven security personnel were killed after gunmen in Indian army fatigues attacked the Pathankot Indian Air Force station.
During the meeting with Pakistani Foreign Affairs Advisor Aziz, Indian Minister Swaraj informed that India was ready to probe the Pathankot attack.
"When I and Sartaj jee met, absolutely there was discussion about Pathankot incident," she told media following the talks. "Soon, a joint investigation team will be formed. On March 27, a Pakistan team will arrive in India, and the investigation will commence on March 28."
During the meeting, Foreign Affairs Advisor Aziz invited Indian Minister Swaraj for the 19th SAARC Summit to be held in Pakistan. Accepting his invitation, Swaraj informed that she will hand over the invitation to the Indian prime minister.
Likewise, Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Advisor Aziz briefed the media about his meeting with Swaraj. He also acknowledged that a joint investigation into the Pathankot incident will be conducted.
He further informed that Pakistan is ready to discuss all attacks including the attack in Pathankot.
According to him, the prime ministers of both countries will sit for talks in Washington DC, USA later this month. "What will be the agenda of the talks can't be revealed now," he said.
Swaraj and Aziz held three rounds of parleys within the last 24 hours.
