Chief of Morang Police Pradhumna Karki said Shrestha has been sent to the reserve pool and will remain their until the investigations into his nexus with fugitive Youth Force Morang Chief Parshuram Basnet, the mastermind of both attacks, will be completed in a few days.
Shrestha was working at the litigation section of Morang Police for the past two years despite being posted at the Koshi Zonal Police Office in Dharan. Police sources claimed Shrestha continued to work in the section despite being transferred elsewhere because of his link with higher authorities. The sources claimed that Shrestha has been reaping financial rewards by manipulating cases using his long experience in the litigation section.
Basnet had orchestrated the June 1 court attack on Giri after being tipped-off by Shrestha about the jailbird´s visit to the court. Journalist Dhakal was attacked four days later for covering the issue.
