Students unions demand deduction in transport fare

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Various three Maoist students' unions staged protests and demonstrations across the country including in the capital today, demanding that the government ensure smooth supply of petroleum products, and public vehicles deduct the transport fare in view of lowering price of petro products. They have also demanded 45 per cent discount to students.

Students unions affiliated to the UCPN (Maoist), CPN Revolutionary Maoist and CPN Maoist took to the streets also seeking government's strong measures to discourage black marketeering seen in the country with obstructions in supplies system along the Nepal- India border.The protestors gathered in and around Lainchaur area, New Baneshwor and exhibition road in the capital and brought the traffic to a halt for around an hour in an attempt to press the bodies concerned to address the demands, according to All Nepal Independent Students Union (ANNISU- Revolutionary) central member DB Saud. He warned that protests would continue until their demands are met. RSS
