Strike halts public transport services

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Public transportation has been shut all across the country due to a strike jointly called by various transport entrepreneurs bodies on Thursday.



They have enforced the strike putting forth a 45-point demand that also includes scrapping of the provisions for a concessional loan and duty free import of taxi for Badi youths and exemption of tariffs on public bus and taxi services in Kathmandu Valley. [break]



A government talks team led by secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Transport Management (MoLTM) on August 15 had held talks with representatives of the agitating bodies to resolve the issues.



The talks will resume at 1: 00 pm today.
