Strike adds to 'stranded' passengers' woes in Gaindakot

CHITWAN, July 29: Passengers are facing difficulties due to traffic jam caused by poor diversion built after a bridge over Jayshree stream along the East-West Highway that had collapsed on Monday.

Adding to the passengers' woes, thousands of people are left stranded following Chitwan and Nawalparasi shutdown demanding reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu nation on Wednesday.

Vehicular movement along the highway had resumed from 5 pm on Tuesday evening after 24 hours. But, vehicles got stuck in the muddy diversion causing traffic jam.

“We arrived at around 7 pm on Tuesday but we are yet to cross the diversion,” said a passenger en route to Mahendranagar from Kathmandu.

Prem BK of Kapilvastu is schedule to fly to Malaysia for foreign employment on Thursday. BK, who boarded a bus from Butwal at 6 am on Tuesday, was found in the bus in Gaindakot on Wednesday morning after his bus got stuck in traffic jam throughout the night.
