KATHMANDU, Sept 9: At a time when price of sugar has been increasing unnaturally, Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights-Nepal has accused Salt Trading Corporation of involving in black marketing of this popular commodity.

According to the forum, STC bought 50,000 tons of sugar at Rs 55 per kg from different manufacturers and retailed it at a high price of Rs 76 per kg. Stating that STC made profit of Rs 1 billion by fleecing consumers, the forum has sought action against the state-controlled trading firm.
