DADELDHURA, Dec 3: Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday said that new constitution can be promulgated in next six months only if the six-point agreement, signed between major political parties on November 29, is implemented.

“There is still no environment to fully trust the Maoists. New constitution can be promulgated only if the six-point agreement reached among the political parties is implemented,” Deuba said while addressing a program at Jogbudha of Dadeldhura. [break]

He said that national consensus among political parties is a must for timely promulgation of new constitution.

“National consensus among political parties is necessary not only for drafting new constitution but also for long-term development in the country,” added Deuba.

He stated that long-term consensus among political parties is needed also for alleviating poverty and backwardness from across the nation.

Deuba opined that every political party must pay for conflict saying that it affects not a particular side rather all. He stressed on the need of maintaining social harmony for progress in the society.

Deuba said that NC has been raising voices for providing compensation to all affected during a decade-long insurgency in the country.
