Addressing a function at Harmi of Gorkha, Dahal said the major political parties are trying their best to forge consensus on disputed issues in constitution writing. [break]
"The country faces uncertainty not because of the government but because of disagreement between the political parties," he said.
Dahal also accused the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML of creating hurdles in promulgating the new constitution by May 27 - the deadline for constitution writing. "Some radical leaders from NC and CPN-UML created hurdles in promulgating the new constitution," he said.
Claiming that the new constitution would have been promulgated on time as the issue of integrating former Maoist combatants had already been settled, he said, "But leaders of NC and CPN-UML feared that the Maoist party would continue to lead the government if the new constitution is promulgated," he said.
Dahal also claimed that NC and UML feared that he would be elected as the president, if the Maoist-led government promulgated the new constitution.
Speaking at the same function, Vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Narayankaji Shrestha said they were yet to complete their revolution. "The Maoist party is ready to be flexible it would not give up revolution," added Shrestha, who is also the deputy prime minister.
