Shrestha elected in Asian bodybuilding
KATHMANDU: Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBFA) President Rajesh Babu Shrestha has been unanimously elected as the vice-president of Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (ABFF). According to a press release issued by NBFA, this is the first time that any Nepali national has been elected to the top post in ABFF. Earlier, Shrestha had served as the president of South Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SABFF) for two years. SABFF has conferred the title of honorary president on Shrestha.
Gallitol into final
DHARAN: Gallitol Cricket Club on Thursday advanced into the final of the Third Rotaract Running Cup Cricket Tournament being held in Dharan. Gallitol defeated the host Rotaract Club of Dharan by 36 runs in the first semifinal. Opting to bat first Gallitol garnered 106 runs riding on 45 runs of Bikki Khan and bundled out the host for 70 runs in the 16-over match. Nikesh Shrestha of Rotaract contributed with 37 runs. Bikki Khan and Rikking Khan claimed three and two wickets of the host respectively. Bikki Khan was adjudged the man-of-the-match. The second semifinal will be played between Dharan Cricket Club and Chataraline Cricket Club on Friday.
Sports festival in Chitwan
CHITWAN: Chitwan District Sports Development Committee is organizing a sports festival in Chitwan from November 17-23. The festival, to be held in the proposed regional stadium at Tikauli, Ratnanagar, will be inaugurated by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. According to Uttam Gurung, the president of Chitwan District Sports Development Committee, the festival will feature 28 different events, including football, volleyball, karate, taekwondo, cricket, boxing, wushu and badminton. The expected cost of the festival is about Rs 2.4 million.

KATHMANDU: Urgen Gurung of Lochhudan Samaj, Mustang scored three points to occupy the top spot in the Open Archery Tournament that began in Kathmandu on Thursday. As the best archer of the day Gurung was awarded Rs 9,700. Similarly, Som Ghale of Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club and Govinda Chhantyal and Deepak Chhantyal of Chhantyal Samaj shared the second spot with two points apiece. Altogether 77 male archers are participating in the tournament organized by Nepal-Japan Contact Committee. The tournament will conclude on Monday.
Asian Zonal chess championship from March 18
