SPORTS BRIEFS: Striker Rai returns

KATHMANDU, March 25: Former Nepali striker Yugal Kishor Rai has returned to Nepal. Rai, who had left the country about one-and-a-half-year ago for further studies in the UK, has arrived just in time before the new league is set to kick off.



Rai had played four editions of the domestic league, scoring altogether 30 goals. [break]



He had played from Three Star Club in 2003 followed by two season from New Road Team and had returned again to Three Star before heading to the UK. Rai, however, is yet to confirm which club he will play.



Lalit Krishna Shrestha, the president of Three Star, said Rai had visited him but did not disclose his intention of playing for the Three Star. "We just had a normal talk," added Shrestha.


Khalibari, BBC into final


KATHMANDU: Khalibari Youth Club and BBC, Banepa confirmed their final spot from group A in the Martyrs´ Memorial C Division qualifiers on Friday. Khalibari beat Dakshinkali Sports Development Center 2-1 while BBC defeated Dhuk Thuk Youth Club 3-1. Sagar Magar and Anil Gurung scored for Khalibari while Roshan Shrestha scored a consolation goal for Dakshinkali. In another match, a brace from Sansar Nanda Palanchowk and a goal from Rexan Manandhar sealed the victory for BBC. Tshring Sherpa scored for Dhuk Thuk.
