SPORTS BRIEFS: Second phase selection of U-12 begins

KATHMANDU, April 11: The second phase selection of U-12 players for ANFA Academy began on Sunday. The selection for central region began in Kathmandu and Hetauda, western region in Pokhara, mid and far west in Dhangadhi. The selection will be held for three days, according to All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).



The first phase selection of players from 40 district associations affiliated to ANFA was held from April 5-7. Altogether, 105 players have been selected for the second phase in Kathmandu. [break]



A selection team coordinated by former national player and coach Rajukaji Shakya will select the players for the third phase from Kathmandu. The players selected from the second phase will qualify for the final level selection. ANFA will bear all expenses -- food, accommodation and education -- for the selected footballers.





National Games in Dhangadhi



KATHMANDU, April 11: National Sports Council´s meeting, on Sunday, declared the Sixth National Games will be held in Dhangadhi, Kailali. The board meeting chaired by Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali decided to organize the Games in 2067 BS.



NSC also formed a coordination committee lead by its member Prakash Bista and ordered to study necessities for organizing the Games. Likewise, NSC board meeting sanctioned the decision to reshuffle Nepal Gymnastic Association and Nepal Kabaddi Association.
