After winning the previous edition of Budhasubba, RCT has not won a single title and they have achieved the feat after about a decade. [break]MMC, a big name in Nepali football despite making huge investment for the season has made no remarkable achievement other than winning the title of Adarsha Cup earlier this year held in Pokhara. Both the teams had defeated title contenders after a tough match. RCT had defeated three time champions Three Star Club 5-4 in tiebreaker while MMC edged past four time champions Nepal Police Club 5-4 in tiebreaker to set up the title clash.
FIFA referee course began
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) began FIFA/MA Elite Referees Course on Saturday at ANFA Complex, Lalitpur. ANFA General Secretary Dhirendra Pradhan inaugurated the training to be participated by FIFA referees, FIFA assistant referees and national referees. The referee course that will end on April 8 will be participated by altogether 30 referees. FIFA Referee Development Officer Muhiseen Ariff from Sri Lanka, FIFA technical instructor Shamsul Maidin from Singapore and FIFA fitness instructor Ganesen Maniam from Sri Lanka will impart training to the referees.
Samaj Kalyan elevated to C division
KATHMANDU: Samaj Kalyan Khelkud Kendra of Nayabazaar were elevated to the C division on Saturday after they defeated Pragati Yuva Club of Saibu in the final of group A during the qualifiers of Martyrs Memorial C Division League Football held at the ANFA ground, Satdobato. Samaj Kalyan had a hard fought 4-2 tiebreaker win over Pragati after the regulation time finished with 1-1 draw. Sunil Pariyar, Rakesh Sapkota, Sukrit Tamang and Vishan Shrestha converted spotkicks for Samaj Kalyan while only Silash Rai and Saroj Hamal succeeded in spotkicks for Pragati. Earlier, Shrestha had give 25th minute lead to Samaj Kalyan but Sunil Maharjan hit back equalizer in the 80th minute.
Ramailo Badminton kicks off
KATHMANDU: Third Jawalakhel Ramailo Badminton Tournament kicked off on Saturday at Jawalakhel. In men´s doubles, RC Basnet and Shyam Basnet´s pair defeated Bikram Khadka and Arun Rana´s pari 31-26 while Parasjung Pandey and Ram Pradhan´s pair saw off Kirojman Singh Basnet and Prakash Khadka 31-20. Altogether, 11 pairs are contesting in the event organized by Jawalakhel Badminton Circle on the occasion of New Year 2068 BS. Bharat Bahadur Karki, the president of circle inaugurated the tournament.
Three Star into final
DHANKUTA: Three Star Club has fixed their final spot in the Martyrs´ Bhimnarayan Cup Football Tournament with a 5-2 win over Sagarmatha Youth Club of Morang on Saturday. Three Star came from a goal deficit for the victory. Yuthuk Rai put Sagarmatha ahead in 20th minute but Buddha Chemjong scored an equalizer a minute later and doubled the talley in the 27th minute. After the interval, Subash Limbu added another goal for Three Star. Subtitute Sabin Shrestha later scored twice for Three star to confirm their final place. The other goal for Sagarmatha came from Sirjan Limbu.
