Sherpa elected president
KATHMANDU: Dwang Dima Sherpa has been unanimously elected as the president of Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Association for four years on Saturday. A 14-member executive committee was unanimously elected from its first general assembly. Puskar Shah and Shankar Sainju are the vice-presidents of the association. Meg Raj Poudel was elected as the general secretary while Prem Narayan Adhikari and Ramesh Thapa were elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.
Knight-chess off to winning start
UDAYPUR: Knight-chess Club of Jhapa started on a winning note in the Udaypur Gold Cup Football Tournament that kicked off on Saturday in Gaighat, Udaypur. Knight-chess defeated United Kharsang Football Club (UKFC) of Darjeeling, India 1-0. Deepak Rai scored the lone goal of the match during the 28th minute of second half in the match held at Triyuga Higher Secondary School. UKFC´s Nimas Rai was adjudged the man-of-the-match. Sahara Club of Pokhara will take on Mitramilan Club of Sunsari on Sunday.
Chataralion Cricket Club wins first match
DHARAN: Defending champion Chataralion Cricket Club was off to a winning start during the Rotaract Running Cup Cricket Tournament on Saturday. In the match played at the ground of Bhagwati School, Dharan, Chataralion defeated Acharyalion Cricket Club by one wicket. Winning the toss, Chataralion restricted Acharyalion for 100 runs in the 16-over match. Chataralion reached the target with one wicket remaining. Suraj Shah had scored 31 for Acharyalion while Anish Shakya took two wickets for Chataralion. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Iraj Shrestha, the key player for Chataralion who scored 35 runs. Pankaj Sharma grabbed four wickets for Acharyalion.
Mega Three Star executive committee allocates portfolios
KATHMANDU: Mega Three Star Club on Saturday allocated portfolios among the 15-member executive committee that was elected on September 25. Former general secretary Arun Man Joshi has been nominated the senior vice-president while Nirmal Ratna Shakya, Ramesh Awale and Atish Krishna Shrestha have been selected as vice-presidents of the club. Former president Lalit Krishna Shrestha was already elected to lead the club for the third consecutive time.
Sanjeeb Shilpakar is the general secretary while Krishna Awale and Kul Bahadur Maharjan are assigned the responsibility of treasurer and secretary respectively. Similarly, Rabin Bajracharya is the deputy treasurer while advocate Mangal Maharjan is the legal advisor. Hari Maharjan, Ram Krishan Shrestha (Boss), Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, Niwas Gopal Baidhya, Kishor Awale and Ram Krishna Chitrakar are the executive members. The board has appointed Upendra Shrestha, Govinda Gurung and Rameshower Awale as the executive members and Gyan Bahadur Shakya as member.
