Pentagon to meet Liverpool in final
KATHMANDU: Pentagon and Liverpool set up a final clash in the First LA Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament on Monday. Pentagon defeated the host Little Angels´ by four runs in the semifinal played at the host´s ground at Hattiban, Lalitpur. Pentagon put up 85/7 in 20 overs and bowled LA out for 81 runs in 17.2 overs to secure a four-run victory. Likewise, Liverpool edged past Glacier International College by 23 runs. Liverpool was all out for 97 runs in 15 overs but restricted Glacier to 74 runs in 15.1 overs. The final will be played on Tuesday.
Namuna, Valley Public lift titles
KATHMANDU: Host Namuna English School, Lubhu defeated Valley Public 26-24, 27-25, 25-11on Monday to claim the senior boys´ title in the Ninth Valley-wide Inter-school Namuna Running Shield Volleyball Tournament. Meanwhile, Valley Public pulled off a 19-25, 11-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-13 over the host to win the title in senior girls´ section of the tournament. Ananta School claimed the junior boys´ title.
Gyan Niketan wins basketball match
KATHMANDU: Gyan Niketan defeated Nawajeevan 31-23 on Monday in the boys´ section of 10th TIA Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Likewise, Valley Public thrashed Himalaya 52-32 and KISC beat Bhadrakali 41-31. Baba recorded a 45-34 victory over HIMS and Kathmandu Valley beat Greenland 31-27 while Innovative edged past Minar 37-27. In the girls´ section, host Trungram International Academy (TIA) beat Teresa Academy 20-12 and Daffodil defeated Mt Kailash 13-9.
KCM Football Frenzy from Tuesday
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) Sports Club is organizing KCM Football Frenzy, an inter-college five-a-side football tournament, in the capital from Tuesday. The club´s co-presidents Kushal Jung Adhikari and Supriya Tamang informed that altogether 20 management colleges are participating in the tournament to be held at Maidan Futsal Venue, Battisputali. According to Adhikari, participating teams have been divided into five groups and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. The winner of the tournament will get Rs 20,000.
