In the boys´ 1,500 meter race, Umesh Kandangwa clocked 4 minutes 34.4 seconds to claim the gold medal. Anup Khanal of Western Region and Kapil Chaudhary of Mid-western Region finished second and third respectively. Sanumaya Buda of Mid-western Region won the girls´ race with a timing of 5 minutes 20.8 seconds. Sangita Khadka finished second and Radha Raji of Mid-western Region finished third.
In boys´ 400 meter, Bimala Chaudhary of Western Region secured gold clocking 1 minute 6.9 seconds. Bhagirathi of Mid-western Region and Anita Thapa of Central Region finished second and third respectively.

In girls´ high jump, Amrit Nepali of Western Region clinched gold leaping 1.60 meters. Despite jumping the same height, Naresh Chaudhary of Far-western had to settle for silver. Nepali was declared the winner as had succeeded in his first attempt. Umesh Rai of Central Region took the bronze medal.
In the girls´ event, Prava Chaudhary of Western Region won gold with a jump of 1.43 meters. Tulasa Khatri of Mid-western and Manuja Dangi of Eastern clinched silver and bronze respectively.
Volleyball
Central Region has advanced into the semifinals of girls´ volleyball in the President´s Cup National Running Shield as the winner of Group B. Central beat Mid-western 25-20, 25-23 to enter the last four. Despite the defeat, Mid-western also advanced into the semifinals as the group runner-up.
Similarly, Western Region and Far-western Region entered the semifinals from Group A. Western beat Eastern 25-14, 25-13 while Far-western overcame Eastern 25-19, 25-20. With two defeats, Eastern crashed out of the event.
In the boys´ section, Western edged past Central 25-18, 21-25, 16-14.
Meanwhile, the 92nd board meeting of National Sports Council has decided to include five more games in the President´s Cup National Running Shield from the next edition. The board meeting has decided to include karate, wushu, taekwondo, football and cricket in the event.
Ruslan basketball from Thursday
KATHMANDU: Ruslan Big Bucks 3x3 Open Basketball Tournament has been postponed by a day. The 16-team competition scheduled to begin at Godavari Alumni Association Hall, Thamel from Wednesday has been postponed for Thursday citing technical reason. Ashish Gurung of Kgarira, an event management company, informed that the players had requested them to postpone the tournament citing the final of National 3x3 Basketball. The winner of the tournament will be awarded Rs 100,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 50,000. The organizers have allocated Rs 25,000 each for the second runner-up and the tournament´s most valuable player.
NeCOS to set up players fund
KATHMANDU: Nepal Confederation of Sports (NeCoS) on Wednesday announced to set up Madan Bhandari Memorial Players Welfare Fund. President of NeCoS Purushottam Paudel informed that a meeting of NeCoS held on Tuesday took the decision.
Prime, Premier clinch 3X3 basketball titles
KATHMANDU: Premier College lifted boys´ title and Prime College clinched girls´ titles on Wednesday during Second Premier Cup 3X3 Basketball Tournament. In the finals played at Dashrath Stadium covered hall, Premier defeated GoldenGate in boys´ category while Prime A defeated Prime B in girls´ category.
Sadhish Pradhan´s eight points guided Premier for a 21-9 victory over Golden Gate. “Our plan was to stop opponent team´s Rabindra Maharjan from scoring and we succeeded in it," Pradhan said after the win. Premier had defeated Morgan 21-15 in the quarterfinal riding on 15 points of Pradhan. In the semifinal, Pradhan´s 15 points helped Premier for a 21-9 victory over GoldenGate B. GoldenGate´s road to the final was also easy as they beat Premier B 19-5 and overcame Kaski 21-11.
In the girls´ section, Prime A edged past Prime B 15-13 with six points from Gyanu Gauchan. Prime A had advanced to the finals defeating Premier A 8-6 with five points from Nayana Shakya. Prime B overcame Premier B 12-10 with seven points from Mila Shakya.
