SPORTS BRIEFS: CAN nominates four members

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) president Tanka Angbuhang nominated four executive members on Friday. Those nominated are Keshav Ghimire of Jhapa, Thakur Prasad Pahadi of Sindhuli, Thakur Pratap Thapa and Diwakar Ghale of Kathmandu.



According to a release by CAN, Angbuhang nominated them in accordance to sub-clause 4 of clause 3 of CAN stature.[break]


Ladli Lions in final

KATHMANDU: Ladli Lions defeated Naxal Challengers by 19 runs on Friday to reach the final of the Ridhi Sidhi Marwadi T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, Lions scored 139 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Manoj Sood scored 45 runs while Hitesh Dalmiya scored 33 runs. Parth Upadhyaya grabbed three wickets for Challengers.



In reply, Challengers managed to score only 120 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs. Mukesh Gupta scored 35 runs of 46 balls while Prashanna Shakya scored 27 runs. Manoj Sood and Gaurav Gaund took two wickets each for Lions. Lions will take on Tip Top XI in the final of the tournament.



Gyanu Baba continues winning streak


KATHMANDU: Defending champion Gyanu Baba Higher Secondary School continued its winning streak defeating Angel´s Heart on Friday in the Seventh Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament. In the match played at the court of New Buspark, Gyanu Baba overcame Angel´s Heart 25-15, 25-20, 25-12. Nepal Police Club registered wins against Chandeshori Youth Club, Ramechhap 25-2, 25-5, 25-4 and Tops Academy, Pokhara 25-7, 25-10, 25-14. Armed Police Force defeated New Diamond Academy in 3-1 sets.



Greenfield, Teresa win


KATHMANDU: Greenfield and Teresa Academy on Friday registered wins in the junior boys´ section of the Third Teresa Academy Inter School Basketball Tournament. Greenfield beat Ideal English School 17-13 and Teresa registered 33-24 win over Deneb. In the girls section, Saipal defeated Midland 16-10 and Teresa routed Deneb 30-15.



Chhantyal Association ´A´ on lead


KATHMANDU: Nepal Chhantyal Association A took lead in the team event of the Second Open Gurung Bamboo Archery tournament on Friday. Chhyantal Association topped the points table with 111 points. Myagdi Magar Samaj and Chhantyal Association ´B´ are in the second and third place respectively.
