Former national team cricketers Amir Akhtar, Manoj Baisya and Dipendra Chaudhary levelled such accusations amidst a press conference in the capital. [break]
"No role and voting right has been given to the districts association though the 37 district associations are affiliated to CAN," Chaudhary said. "The development from grass root level is a must for the overall development of cricket in the country," said Akhtar.
The cricketers also alleged the NSC of violating Sports Development Act 2048 and working in favor of CAN President Binay Raj Pandey. Earlier, the cricketers had filed a public interest litigation at the Supreme Court demanding an order for holding CAN election. The oldest sports body has not conducted even a single election over the past 63 years. Meanwhile, CAN had decided to postpone the election to discuss voting rights for districts associations.
