A two-day meeting of SP Central Committee (CC) concluded that lawmakers -- Mahesh Yadav, Khobhari Raya and Malamati Tharu Rana -- committed a blunder by joining the breakaway party, according to a senior leader.[break]
“The party will seek clarification from the lawmakers as per as the Party Defection Act,” said the leader on condition of anonymity.
According to the Party Defection Act, a political party should give a 15-day ultimatum to lawmakers for clarification before expelling them.
Lawmakers Yadav, Raya and Tharu had quit their party to join Jha´s new party on July 19.
The CA chairman is scheduled to announce on Thursday whether or not to scrap Jha´s CA membership.
The SP had on June 28 asked the Parliament Secretariat to annul Jha´s CA membership.
The SP had sacked Jha and relieved him of all party responsibilities on June 26, accusing him of working against the party and conspiring to split the party.
SP that had initially nine lawmakers is now been left with only five lawmakers.
